Free occupational health, safety, mental health and lifestyle eLearning courses encourage, educate and empower youth to live a safe, healthy, and active lifestyle
April 18, 2022 – Calgary, AB – The SiS (Safety in Schools) Foundation of Canada is pleased to announce and welcome Canadian Natural Resources Limited as an official sponsor of one of their most popular courses – Health and Safety Program Basics.
This new course sponsorship program allows organizations like Canadian Natural to help support SiS to provide their services to reach more young people. SiS students have accessed the Health and Safety Program Basics course over 66,700 times, including 3,962 unique logins in 2021 alone. Since inception in 2011, SiS students from over 340 high schools have earned 150,000-plus course mastery certificates in a variety of job safety and mental health and well-being courses.
“Canadian Natural is proud to support the Safety in Schools Health and Safety Program Basics course as part of our ongoing commitment to building long-lasting, positive relationships with stakeholders in communities near our operations,” said Canadian Natural’s Dwayne Tilley, Advisor, Campus Recruitment. “Safety is a core value at Canadian Natural, and our SiS sponsorship aligns closely with our ultimate goal of ‘no harm to people and no safety incidents’. We are pleased to play a small role in helping Safety in Schools educate and empower young people on the importance of being safe.”
“We are delighted that Canadian Natural recognizes our efforts to help keep youth safe physically and mentally. We recently took that combination one step further, launching SAHARA (Safety And Health Awareness Risk Assessment), a patent pending technology that combines workplace hazards and psychological well-being to calculate risk levels,” stated Kim Adolphe, Co-founder and Chairman of SiS. “There is a disproportionate number of on-the-job injury rates of young people across all industries. Our mission is to change that by educating and empowering youth to stay safe and live their best life at school, work, home, and at play. Corporate sponsorships like this one from Canadian Natural, help make that possible.”
About the SiS Foundation of Canada
From grassroots beginnings starting with one school and seven students, the SiS family has grown to over 340 schools across three provinces – with 150,000-plus and counting mastered certificates since 2011. That represents over $5 million worth of free industry-recognized Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) eLearning courses donated by the co-founding company, SWIFT Learning. That is in addition to many mental health and well-being, active lifestyle and custom courses developed in partnership with government and industry. The first of many versions of SAHARA, a patent pending technology that combines workplace hazards and psychological health to calculate risk levels, then links to relevant online training and resources has been launched for the Service Hospitality and Tourism industry where most young people get their first jobs. SiS is committed to expanding into more schools across Canada to educate and empower more youth to stay safe at school, work, home and at play.
